Born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1965, Anne Labovitz grew up in an "Art-Centered" family. Her grandmother, painter Ella Labovitz, was a significant influence on Anne's early work. She watched and learned from Ella, and ultimately they painted together. Anne graduated with Honors from Hamline University in St. Paul Minnesota, and continued her work and study with Painters and Printmakers in Italy, Florida, and New York. She continued her work, mono-printmaking, woodcuts, painting, focused principally on Landscapes and Impressionistic Portraits. In 1992, after Ella's death, Anne moved from St. Paul to an adobe home and Studio in the New Mexico mountains north of Santa Fe.

Married in 1995, Bill Gamble and Anne have three children, and now live in Hannover, Germany. Previously the family lived in Zurich, Switzerland. Anne continues to paint full-time. Portraiture has become an increasingly important part of Anne's work. Numerous Commissions keep her busy. She has rare insight and ability to display the 'souls' of her subjects. Anne says her intent is to describe and communicate emotion and experience in her portraits, landscapes, and figurative works.
